Bold Earth Adventures

Snakes & Service

We began our day with an early wake up. We ate our first breakfast in the cloud forest which consisted of toast, eggs, fresh pineapple, and watermelon. We were then greeted by Marco, a leader at Siempre Amigos and began our two days of community service. Our service included painting trash and recycling huts. Grace and Anna spent their time painting a vibrant toucan, while Raina painted “Siempre amigo Y Bold Earth” in the center. When Isabel’s speaker died, Addie and Emmy lead everyone and pitch perfect and Taylor Swift a-cappella. Sammy and Lexi painted a beautiful palm tree. Our leader of the day Grayson, Hana, and Addie painted an ombre sun on the back of the hut. After completing four hours of community service, we went back to the hotel to shower all the paint off our bodies. Addie and Arden took naps while waiting to shower. The restaurant we ate at served us cheeseburgers and quesadillas. Then we went to the Monte Verde preserve to see a hummingbird “Colibrí” gallery— Gracie was in her own personal heaven.

Everyone explored the souvenir shop while Emmy and Addie created an impromptu hopscotch course. After that, we walked back to the car and taught Javi his English phrases of the day; “ate that up” and “Riz.” We then drove back to town and shopped around. We got yummy milkshakes and smoothies. Then we went and stocked up on snacks at the grocery store. We went back to the hotel to regroup and put layers on for the upcoming night hike. On the hike we saw a Mexican hairy porcupine, crested Quan, eyelash viper, kinkajou, and other animals.

Addie was scared of the snakes and Grayson helped by bringing his stuffed animal Fluffy to her aid. We then went to dinner and enjoyed quesadillas and pasta to end our day. It finished with LOD Grayson leading evening meeting. We’re having a blast. But loving and missing our families! Can’t wait to chat in a few days!
